Management
The management of Praktiker Hungary
We are tradesmen and professionals. The secret to our success is what we do, do it simply for our Customers. Our objective
is for them to quickly find what they need: high quality goods at a reasonable price. How do we do that? We save money through
our sensible business policy. We incorporate such savings in the price of our products for everyone to find their product
at Praktiker that suits their finances and taste. The secret to Praktiker’s success in Hungary is quite simple. Not only our
customers but also our co-workers are satisfied.

Karl-Heinz Keth
Managing Director
I have been working for Praktiker since 1985. At first I worked as a store manager, and then I became sales manager for Germany.
In the latter position, I was responsible for 40 stores.
In the summer of 1998, I had the opportunity to draw on my experience abroad for the first time: I was offered the management
of Praktiker in Hungary, which was being set up at that time. Initially, I managed the Hungarian stores from Austria – Vösendorf
– and from the spring of 1999 I relocated to Budapest.
Dr. Sándor Ónody
Finance Director
I was born in 1963. I am a mathematician and earned my degree in logic. I worked for seven years as a teacher and researcher
(ELTE, BME, Florida Advanced Technology Center). In 1995 I started working for Metro Kereskedelmi Kft. as a programmer, and
after filling several positions, I worked as chief controller in the Düsseldorf headquarters of Metro for three years. I earned
an MBA degree in finance in 2000. I switched to Praktiker in 2001. I have been Finance Director since then. My main objective
is to facilitate long-term development and profitability by providing an appropriate financial and IT background.
Zoltán Schlemmer
Delegated Sales Director
As a sales director, I am responsible for the successful operation of 19 stores. I have nearly 20 years of commercial practice;
accordingly, I have passed nearly all the grades of this activity.
Briefly about my career at Praktiker: I started as a store manager in Mester Street, Budapest on 01 March 2000. From March
2001 until December last year, I was employed as a sales manager in the Western region, being responsible for the operation
of 8 stores. From 01 January 2008, I have worked as a delegated sales manager, now representing all the 19 stores.
I consider myself to be a tradesman and service provider. My main goal is to get to know the way of thinking of customers
even more accurately and in more detail, thereby to further develop and improve services customized to their needs. I can
work together with a successful, goal-oriented team, which must represent a further guarantee for our customers as well.
Mária Szita
Purchasing Director
I graduated from the College of Foreign Trade, Faculty of Circulation of Goods. I studied French and German.
Up until the political changes I worked for several foreign trade companies, and commercial companies licensed for foreign
trading. At first I was import (then export) salesperson, ultimately becoming deputy head of the department of foreign trade.
Subsequent to the political changes, so-called foreign trade companies ceased to exist. However, I continued to busy myself
with the import-export transactions of several commercial companies, and also got involved in market research.
I have been working for Praktiker since 1 November 1998. Initially, I was purchaser for the garden department, and I am currently
managing purchasing regarding Hungary.
Péter Dömötör
Marketing Director
I have been working for Praktiker since early 2007 and have also been managing the marketing team’s work since. I first graduated
from the College of Foreign Trade and then from the University of Economics. My previous workplaces include Unilever, Zwack
Unicum and Sara Lee Hungary. In recent years I have worked in logistics, commercial marketing and, chiefly, in marketing for
Hungarian and international brands such as Domestos, Biopon, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Ambi Pur and Gabi.
I am happy to make use of my experience gained in terms of fast-moving consumer goods in commerce. Praktiker’s human-focussed
approach, its way of thinking considering both the past and the future and also colleagues’ professionalism all appeal to
me very much.
My main objective is to keep Praktiker our Customers’ favourite interior design and DIY store in the future as well.
Ildikó Szijjné Kállai
Human Resources Director
I was awarded my economist’s degree in Germany in 1986, then in 2003 I successfully defended my human manager’s thesis and
in 2005 my MBA degree at the Technical University of Budapest.
I lived in Germany for a total of 9 years where I worked for 4 years as an economist for companies having Hungarian interests
also, as well as at the commercial section of the Embassy of Hungary in Berlin. I have acted as a HR manager since 2002. In
Győr, at my former place of residence, I was in charge of the HR area at Lapcom Kft. My family and I moved to Budapest in
2007.
At Praktiker Kft., I am head of the personnel department. I consider it one of my prominent tasks to organize human development
projects for our staff, as well as to introduce Praktiker as an employer to a wider range of peaople in our surroundings,
also, to training firms and firms providing HR services, furthermore, to potential employee circles.
